Every month, I meticulously hand pick the tracks to be featured in the Funky House Finesse mix show. I go through hundreds of tracks making sure I select the finest house music tracks for the show which, as you can imagine, is quite a chore (quite an enjoyable one at that).
By doing this, a number of tracks don’t make the cut. There’s nothing wrong with them – they just don’t fit in the set or we run out of time.
To get around this, I’ve decided to gather together my weekly favourites, compiling the Weekly Finesse.
This won’t be a radio show for now, just a published list of tracks available to purchase. We’ll see how it pans out though. If it works well, I’ll look into producing something a bit more easy to follow (audio or video).
So, without further ado, here’s the first Weekly Finesse for the week ending Saturday 15th October 2011.
Classic French disco track from 1995, made particularly special by the man of many names, Dave Lee.
Sampling the Whitney Houston classic, Mike Rutherford and Craig Hamilton have created a masterpiece in this uplifting house remix.
More disco house remixery (is that even a word?), this time from the London label MN2S, remastering the classic disco track “Holdin’ On” from Tony Rallo (identified by Marc Littlemore)
This track is sure to send goosebumps down your back. Ludicrously delightful vocals from Andrea Martin accompanied by a stand-out simple instrumental make this potentially the biggest track of the year.
Amazing reworking of the classic disco track by two of the hottest producers on the circuit. This is going to be massive over the coming months with huge support from big name DJs.
